The Masters wines are named in honour of a person or event that has played an intrinsic role in the Peter Lehmann story, and released with bottle age to capture the wines’ full potential. Wigan Riesling is a testament to our former Chief Winemaker, who revolutionised white winemaking and championed the Riesling. This is one of our most celebrated wines.

Wine Profile
5 STAR WINERY RATING James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion International Winemaker of the Year 2003 & 2006, Australian Producer of the Year 2003, 2006 & 2008 - International Wine & Spirit Competition.
Vineyard Notes
Sourced from Ben Zander’s famed ‘Wroxton’ vineyard in Eden Valley, situated 500 metres above sea level, west facing, planted in 2002 in shallow grey sands over flint rock.
Production Notes
The 2014 vintage started with very hot weather but was interrupted by two days of heavy rain in mid-February after which the weather settled down to wonderful Indian summer conditions for the remainder of the vintage. This allowed the grapes to ripen slowly and evenly, producing Riesling of exceptional quality and lovely natural acidity.
Winemaker Notes
The colour is a delicate, pale lemon hue with soft aromas of lime and florals. The palate shows great fruit purity with a fresh, crispy, dry finish. This classic Wigan Riesling will cellar beautifully for the next 15 years
Food Pairing Notes
A wine of celebrity status, it is best enjoyed for celebratory occasions. Also try pairing with fresh seafood, like oysters, or Andrew Wigan’s all-time favourite – pan fried fish and homemade chips, with extra lemon.
The grapes were picked early and cold fermented in stainless steel tanks. Following a two week fermentation period, the wine was clarified and bottled immediately before being cellared at the winery for five years prior to release. A mature wine with remarkable youth on the palate.
